Where I ate this week

We had friends visiting from São Paulo, Brazil this week and it has meant two things: I now desperately want to go to Brazil and we ate out a lot at:

Wise Acre Eatery is one of my favorite restaurants.  I love the food, I love the decor, and I always appreciate the vegetarian options.  The vegetarian winter entree right now is a farmer's pie that I can't get enough of!  And the sell rendered lard!  Not that I cook with it (much) anymore, but I'm always excited to see people supporting the use of good, home rendered leaf lard.

Before it became Wise Acre, the garage space was home to Liberty Custard, who made some of the best frozen custard.  Its also where Pretty Boy and I went the first time we ever hung out.  When Tangletown Gardens took over the space and turned it into a restaurant, they thankfully kept frozen custard on the menu.

Mandarin Kitchen in Bloomington, MN is pretty much my family's go-to Cantonese style Chinese food restaurant.  They have my favorite dim sum in the Twin Cities, but I usually can't handle the long waits and oppressive crowds that come with their weekend dim sum service.  They also have some of the most impressive and delicious seafood dishes, which I sadly do not eat anymore as a vegetarian.  Its the saddest I've been about being vegetarian in the 10 months since I've become vegetarian, but I'm so glad our Brazilian friends really liked it.
